Nimrod: Darkness in the Cradle of Civilization

Published 2004

Steven Merrill does a great job bringing to life a very remote and confusing period of human history in Mesopotamia. The story keeps the interest of the reader all the time.

It has all the ingredients to be one great historical novel: deep knowledge of historical facts, mingled with a talent to capture the right tone of narrative, and the ability to bring the most interesting aspects of the characters' lives in this period of history.

The scarcity (if there is any book at all) of literature that deals with this most interesting period makes this book a must for fans of history, literature, and simply those who still amaze at how some can choose evil and others good. And for those believers in the one God of the Bible, this book is an extraordinary event.

"Nimrod" not only is a fascinating read: it gives answers, explanations that concern the deepest of the human soul and the destiny of its spirit.

Personally, I couldn't put this book down. Hope to read more by this author.

O EL DISCRETO DESENCANTO CON EL SOCIALISMO

On Cuba's Revolution:

"The revolution was a cover for committing atrocities without the slightest vestige of guilt ... we were young and irresponsible. We were pirates. We formed our own caste ... we belonged to and believed in nothing -no religion, no flag, no morality or principle. It's fortunate we didn't win, because if we had, we would have drowned the continent in barbarism."

Jorge Masetti, In the Pirate's Den

I know it full well
My soul, once true to God
Is chosen for hell."
