A Woman in Berlin: Eight Weeks in the Conquered City

German Women as Booty of War in the 20th Century

Very well written first person account of life in Berlin as the Soviets take over the city at the end of the IIWW. The description is pretty sordid, but with no self-pity. The female writer is a young and fine journalist who can speak some Russian. It's not only a detailed journal of life in a conquered city, it´s a story of survival, as much physical as emotional, where women have to fend for themselves and are the victims of the barbarian Russian soldiers, their conquerors.

A gripping and fast fast. Very nice and cheap edition.
